Plot
A talented songwriter of sambas is forced to face the social injustices of the city around him.
Sinekatalog’s take
A songwriter's struggle to be heard becomes a window on the inequalities of Rio's working-class suburbs. Samba is the heartbeat, and the film's earnest, neorealist leanings give it a rough authenticity. A significant piece of Brazilian cinema for anyone curious about the country's screen roots.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
