In 1902, 13-year-old Horace toils on a run-down plantation in rural Texas to buy a tombstone for the father he lost a year earlier. Soll, the crusty old Confederate who owns the plantation and depends on convict labor to keep his farm running, takes a liking to Horace.

Sinekatalog’s take

A boy works on a Texas plantation to buy a tombstone for his father and wins the affection of its crusty owner, who relies on convict labour. The performances give the quiet tale some depth. Recommended for viewers who like slow, character-led rural dramas.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
