Plot
Maya Deren’s shortest, two-minute A Study in Choreography for Camera seems like an exercise piece to capture a dancer’s movement on celluloid, which later on developed into her masterpieces such as Ritual in Transfigured Time and Meditation on Violence.
Sinekatalog’s take
A dancer's movement flows across different spaces through clever cuts in a two-minute experiment. The editing creates a graceful illusion of continuity. A tiny, brilliant lesson in cinema and dance.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
