Born in Trabzon in 1959, Tayfun Pirselimoğlu worked as a screenwriter from the 1990s and directed his first feature, Dayım, in 1999. A writer-director-producer of austere, slow dramas, he made Rıza (2006), Pus (Haze, 2009), Saç (2010), Ben O Değilim (I Am Not Him, 2013), Yol Kenarı (2017) and Kerr (2021), which won him the Golden Orange for best director.
