Plot
In 2010, in an isolated Mennonite colony, the women discover that they have been drugged and assaulted by men in the community for years. While the men are away, the women meet in a hayloft to decide whether to stay and fight, stay and do nothing, or leave. Sarah Polley's 2022 film, based on Miriam Toews's novel, won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.
Sinekatalog’s take
Sarah Polley's drama is a hushed, powerful debate among women deciding how to respond to abuse. It is mostly conversation, but a superb cast and soft, desaturated visuals make it intense and moving.Sinekatalog’s own editorial review – not a user or critic quote.
