Blake Edwards (1922-2010) was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, began as an actor and writer and created the television detective series Peter Gunn. His films mix sophistication with slapstick: Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961) with Audrey Hepburn, the alcoholism drama Days of Wine and Roses (1962), and the Pink Panther series with Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau. He later made 10 (1979) and Victor/Victoria (1982), starring his wife Julie Andrews, and was known for long, meticulously staged comic set pieces.
